Challenges & Growth

Challenges I faced…

Coming into this project I had no experience using Pendo. I had a lot of learning to do at the start, which was daunting.

Working within a set design system improved efficiency and iteration, but made it harder to be creative within constraints.

Adjusting to a corporate setting was strange at first, it was a whole new environment to apply my skills to.

How I grew from them…

I learned early on that no one is an expert on everything. I utilized the people around me for knowledge and support.

I learned to iterate within constraints, navigating when to follow the design system and when to expand and improve it.

I grew more confident in transferring my skills to a business context, learning to advocate for the value I added to the team.

Ok- what’s with the pink dinosaur?

Inspired by our mascot, I doodled little “Pendy” dinos on post-it notes and encouraged people to stick them around the office

Pendy was a hit, and I created a “pendy-of-the-day” Slack channel for people to keep up with new Pendy emojis, which often reflected office events

Soon Pendy was everywhere, being printed as stickers and used for informational materials around the office
